Description
Explore how primary sources and museum objects can bring children’s books to life in the classroom. This session will focus on a historical fiction first-person diary style series published by the National Museum of the American Latino—highlighting young Latino characters’ experiences during key moments in American history, ranging from life on the home front in El Paso during World War II to more contemporary connections to ‘90s Tejano pop star Selena. Participants will sample history and culture activities that can be replicated in the classroom and teaching tools to support social studies, English, and language arts.
