Name
Talking History: 3D Objects, Race and Your Story (In-Person)
Date & Time
Wednesday, July 16, 2025, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Description
As we examine 250 years of American history, how can we enhance and continue conversations around topics like history, race, and civics in our classrooms? In this session, Smithsonian staff will provide ready to use resources and strategies on fostering dialogue around the intersections of these topics using 3D objects and visual thinking strategies. Educators will be guided through a hands-on activity featuring 3D-printed versions of Smithsonian objects and exploring how these artifacts, along with objects from their own immediate communities, can enhance students’ understanding of how individual and collective identities shape our perspectives on history and race.
