Name
Teaching Through Exchange: Educator Voices (Online)
Date
Tuesday, July 14, 2026
Time
1:00 PM - 1:50 PM (EDT)
Description
What happens when students across the country share their local stories with each other? In this session, four Democracy in Dialogue facilitators representing both classroom and cultural organization settings share firsthand how the program transformed student learning, civic identity, and community connection. Through their experiences, attendees will explore how cross-community dialogue builds critical thinking, empathy, and respectful discourse; how linking local narratives to national history deepens student engagement; and how facilitating exchanges shaped educators' own practice and confidence. Leave with a clear picture of what it takes to implement a virtual exchange and how its core elements could work in your own context.
