Speaker Bio
Sarah is a Supervisory Horticulturist for Smithsonian Gardens in Washington, D.C. where she oversees the gardens around the National Air & Space Museum and the National Museum of American History. Her career in public horticulture began with an interest in designing home gardens and a Landscape Contracting degree from Penn State. Through internships and work experience, she recognized the profound impact public gardens have on inspiring and educating visitors. Smithsonian Gardens sees millions of visitors every year, as people from all over the country and all over world come to the nation’s capital to be immersed in history and culture. For Sarah, there is no better place to engage with visitors about gardens and the natural world, and she hopes the experience has a lasting effect on the decisions people make in their own gardens.
