                                                    Dr. Nenette Luarca-Shoaf is the Nadine and Robert A. Skotheim Director of Education and Public Engagement at The Huntington. She recently assumed the role after spending 5 years as Managing Director of Learning and Engagement at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Nenette holds a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Delaware, with a specialization in 19th century American art and visual culture. She has deep experience in gallery teaching and learning, as well as bridging scholarly research with public discourse. Previously, she was Director of Adult Learning and Associate Curator of Interpretation at the Art Institute of Chicago, and has held curatorial and postdoctoral positions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the University of Minnesota’s Institute for Advanced Study.
