This session spotlights teacher-student teams from Smithsonian's Democracy in Dialogue initiative whose collaborations exceeded all expectations, from student-led oral history projects reshaping local curricula, to museum exhibits, StoryMaps, and partnerships with national media outlets unearthing hidden histories. Participants will leave with practical strategies for turning virtual exchange into lasting community impact, building partnerships outside the classroom to amplify student work, supporting student-led inquiry on tough topics, and helping young people use storytelling to address real issues and claim their place in our democracy.
