In time for America’s 250th anniversary, the Smithsonian is launching an integrated suite of civic education resources in summer 2026 dedicated to civic education. The site pulls together a full spectrum of Smithsonian program models that engage young people in conversations about their communities, and about themselves as valued voices in civic dialogue. The site shares activities, lesson plans, research guides, dialogue tips, case studies and more to bolster students’ civic understanding. Educators of any discipline will leave the session understanding the kinds of resources available on the site, and how they have been used to encourage students to develop their civic identities. This session will also be offered as an encore in-person session on Wednesday, July 15 at 1pm, Eastern.
